Gear Old

Below is my proposed gear list. I would love to hear if you have any comments on my choices.

April 14.  I have been doing a lot of research to determine my gear. I am aiming to keep my Base Pack Weight (everything except food, water and fuel) below 9kg.

Update 21 Jun 14. I have made a few more decisions and now have my Base Pack Weight just under 8kg and have a minimalist option that could drop it to 7kg. There are still a few more decisions to be made but until I get home in October and can try some options, and weigh items exactly, this is the list.

Update 23 Aug 14. I have narrowed down a few of my choices and most of my decisions are made. The last of my internet orders are now on their way to New Zealand so there is only the final shopping once I get to New Zealand which will be for clothes and footwear. I did not want to order these off the internet without being able to try on first.
The final list will be determined in the last two weeks of October when I am home and can have a play with the gear.  Below is my most up to date list. Weights in yellow are only estimated weights which will be confirmed when I get home. TBC means to be confirmed.

  1. Check out www.geargrams.com - it does the math for you. 9000 grams with all the zpacks stuff sounds like something isn't adding correctly or is being counted twice.

  2. Thanks Mike. Sorry for slow response, just back from a long holiday away from internet. I will check out the website and repost the gear list if it picks up a mistake. I think the key thing keeping my weight high is the pack which I am willing to accept a little extra weight for comfort. I will try to see if the Cuben Fibre version of the pack is available to try and drop some more weight.
